Situated in the heart of Carrollton, GA, Big Chic is a beloved fast food restaurant that harks back to the nostalgic, comforting flavors of classic Southern fried chicken. This spot is a true homage to old-school chicken shacks, where the focus is on simple, hearty meals that satisfy both the appetite and the soul.
Big Chic’s standout offerings center around their signature fried chicken combos, especially the popular "Big Chic w Fries & Roll" meals. Whether you opt for the 2-piece, 3-piece, or 4-piece options, each comes with golden crinkle-cut fries and a soft, freshly baked roll. The chicken itself features a distinctive light breading—not the heavy, flour-coated kind found in many modern fast food chains—which lends a crispy yet not overwhelming texture. It’s juicy and tender on the inside, delivering that genuine Southern charm with every bite.
Complementing the main dish, Big Chic offers an array of Southern-inspired side orders to enhance your meal. From the creamy southern potato salad to the tangy homemade slaw, and from crunchy beer-battered onion rings to classic Southern fried okra, each side is crafted to provide that authentic down-home taste experience. Customers can also choose from a refreshing selection of beverages including sweet tea, unsweet tea, and freshly squeezed lemonade, ideal for balancing the savory goodness of the chicken.
The dining atmosphere at Big Chic channels the spirit of a no-frills, old-school chicken shack. It’s a place where locals have gathered for years for a quick, satisfying meal to-go or a casual bite on the run. While the spot focuses primarily on takeout, the memories and flavor profiles evoke the warmth and simplicity of Southern cookouts and family dinners.
Real customer reviews paint a vivid picture of Big Chic’s charm and areas for growth. Regulars like John Sanders appreciate the “good basic fried chicken and fries,” praising the classic vibe and recommending the adventurous addition of jalapeno juice to enliven the flavors. Others, like RegG Jackson, fondly recall the lighter breading reminiscent of Kentucky Fried Chicken’s early days, though some feel the seasoning could be bolder. Meanwhile, side dishes such as the chicken livers have delighted fans like Margie Vessell, although consistency with sides like the slaw and okra has drawn critique, suggesting room for improvement in kitchen practices.
Service feedback is a mixed bag; long-time patron K W observes that while the food remains familiar and welcome, post-renovation service can be slow-paced and the dining space feels cramped without proper barriers. Some customers have also noted staff demeanor as an area needing attention, seeking friendlier interactions to match the warmth of the food.
In essence, Big Chic is a cherished Carrollton staple offering an authentic Southern fast food experience. It invites those craving homey fried chicken classics served with traditional sides and refreshing drinks. For anyone eager to revisit an old-school chicken shack’s flavors, Big Chic remains a solid option—just remember to come early and savor the simple pleasures of down-home cooking perfected through the years.
Reminded me of the old school Kentucky Fried Chicken...not a whole overload of breading like today's standard. This is good Chicken but could use more seasoning for me.
Old school chicken shack, been coming here for many years for good basic fried chicken and fries...in a sack..to go for a reasonable price and although I didn't get a jalapeno this time, I usually do and I would recommend you do too, it kinda brings it all together (you can also just get the jalapeno juice)
Got the chicken livers and slaw. The livers were excellent but the slaw was soup. Had to dip out with slotted spoon.
Long time fan of this place in general. This particular location needs to expanded. They rebuilt the place and still didn’t put any barriers down. Service is slowwwww. They are in no hurry at all. Non-friendly attitudes. The food tasted the same. Okra was really dark. Like the grease needed to be changed. Rolls were softer than before. GO EARLY! Since the reopening, this place has been nothing but PACKED. Lines long to the road.
I ordered from here a few days ago, the food is great but the older lady with the braids needs to fix her attitude. I can’t even finish saying my entire order without her cutting me off. We come here to spend our money not deal with stank attitudes.
